Dr. Sherif's Approach
Dr. Sherif’s tummy tuck technique goes beyond skin removal. For Dr. Sherif, a tummy tuck is about completely recontouring the abdomen, flanks, and buttocks. He combines 360 degree liposuction with skin resection and meticulous abdominal muscle repair. Incisions are placed low for minimal visibility. For many patients, an extended-tummy tuck is recommended, where the incision goes past the hip bones, to achieve the perfect waistline. For some patients, fat grafting can be performed to the buttocks for a flawless transition from abdomen to hips.
He prioritizes:
- Circumferential liposuction for complete waistline contouring
-
Muscle plication for core strength and long-lasting flatness
-
Low, hidden incisions for discreet healing
-
Perfect bellybutton creation
-
Attentive follow-up care for optimal healing and results

A mini tummy tuck uses a smaller incision to remove a small amount of skin from just below the bellybutton. Typically, the bellybutton is either not moved, or "floated" down to a slightly lower location. Mini tummy tucks are good options for people with very little skin excess. A full tummy tuck addresses the entire abdomen and is more comprehensive.
Standard tummy tuck incisions typically extend from one hip bone to the other. An extended tummy tuck simply means carrying the incision past the hip bone, with the amount depending on the patient. Extended tummy tucks are excellent for contouring the flank and ensuring the ideal waistline for many patients. Your exam will determine the right surgery for you!
Dr. Sherif places the incision low, designed to be hidden under most underwear or bikini bottoms. Scar fading techniques are discussed during follow-up.
Yes—specifically stretch marks below the bellybutton, which are typically removed with the excess skin.
As long as your weight remains stable, results are long-lasting. The muscle repair is permanent, though future pregnancies or significant weight changes may affect outcomes.
Not necessarily. A tummy tuck is not a weight loss procedure, but being close to your goal weight helps ensure the best results.
Yes! Dr. Sherif utilizes some degree of liposuction in practically every single tummy tuck. It is a critical component of sculpting the toro and waistline and getting to an ideal result.
Dr. Sherif believes that crafting a natural, beautiful bellybutton is a critical component of a tummy tuck. A bad bellybutton is often the telltale sign of a tummy tuck, which is why Dr. Sherif devotes extra time to creating a perfect bellybutton with hidden incisions.
